Charging the battery or not

"Hallo, I', Gerrit Hakze, live in the Netherlands. I bought a 30 HP Chrysler type
304 HA. Its have a elect. start.
My question is: There is no rectifier on the motor. ( belongs not on this type), but will my battery charged? If not, Is there a possebility left to charge the battery?
My motor has a Flywheel Magneto, Type I Ignition system.

Who knows the answer?

"A number of older motors (including my 61 Gale) did not have a charging stator on the motor itself - and no easy way to hook one up. I simply installed an "on-board" charger and plugged the "boat" in when it was parked back at home.

Unless you go out for days at a time, a well charged battery can usually start a well tuned outboard numerous before it needs a recharge..."

An "on-board" charger is good alternative.
But is it possible to change the stator in one who can charge ?

"It might be possible - this model was built between 1973 and 1975. The problem is Chrysler is long out of business so there is really no "dealer" that can help out with parts (or even information).

www.discount-marine-parts.com used to be a Chrysler dealer and still have alot of old stock. If you go to their website and email them, maybe they can give you an answer..."
