"I have a 1984 Mariner outboar
"I have a 1984 Mariner outboard, 90 HP, inline 6 cyl. The charging system pegged my volt meter at 16 volts and burned up everything that was turned on. I replaced the regulator/rectifier. Now the voltage output is around 13 volts at engine idle, but will spike the volt meter at 16 volts with any increase in engine rpms. From the diagram I have of the charging system only the stator and regulator/rectifier exist. Can the stator make the charging output react this way? Does any one know of a system test that I should do?
Thanks for the review,
