Charging system on a '93 25HP

Trying to determine a simple way to determine if the charging system is working. The FSM says to test amps off the rectifier. Is there an easier way?
 
Yea, I just checked good 'ole Youtube and the old battery terminal check is still effective. See if voltage increase with motor running.
