charging issue 1987 60 hp Johnson

1987 60 HP, starts runs great. If you disconnect the battery cables, motor continues to run fine, however its only putting out about 1/3rd of a volt..............any ideas?

Disconnecting the battery cables on a running engine is a mistake !------------Check ohms on the stator battery charging coils / test rectifier .---------Likely the rectifier is bad.
