When I purchased my 75hp 1994 Mariner/Tracker the seller disclosed that the charging circuit did not work. A marina that I had do a repair replaced the voltage regulator / rectifier and in a very short time it completely melted down and failed. I later heard that there was a range of Mariners that was famous for the numerous charging circuit failures and that there was even a recall at one time to replace the voltage regulators and the stators together in order to fix the problem. Does anyone have personal knowledge of problems with this era on Mariners in this hp range? I am wondering if it is a fairly safe bet to replace those two components in order to get my charging circuit working or if it is likely some other problem that I need to identify.
