" I've got a 21' Maxum

" I've got a 21' Maxum ('91 model) with a 5.0l Mercruiser. Tried to get it going yesterday, and the boat repair guy told me it's not getting any spark from the plugs. Told me that he's backed up, but that his recommendation is to change the plugs, and that I can do it. I don't even see where the plugs are at when I look at the engine, and have never worked on a marine engine. Help! Does anyone know where diagrams, pics, etc. are on the net that can help? I'm desparate!! "
 
Follow the spark plug wires f

Follow the spark plug wires from the distributor to each of the plugs. There are four on each side under the exhaust manifold. You have a V8 engine so you will need 8 plugs. I doubt changing the plugs will solve your problem. One or two plugs may not be firing but to have all eight fail is unlikely unless there is an ignition system failure. I recommend you either buy a repair manual for the Mercruiser Stern Drive or check one out at your local library.
