changing riser gaskets? 350 mag fully closed cooled

should i drain coolant before removing risers ? and does the coolant even enter the risers? i can see that water does as it exits with the exhaust...cheers rob

I can't see your engine but will assume that is is FWC. If it is engine block only FWC then no need to drain coolant. If it is a full FWC then I would drain a pint from each manifold. When you remove the risers and separator plate stuff a small rag into the opening while you clean off the gasket debris. Don't forget to remove the rags.
