"I need a little help here. I have a 2001 200Hp Opti (# OT265338) that was a stock 20in unit when I bought it and installed a 5in spacer with the necessary longer drive shaft, shift linkage and water tube to make it a 25 in unit when I bought it 6 years ago and it runs perfectly.

Now I'm raising my stern 5 inches and I need a 30in lower unit. How do I best go about this? Can I put another 5in spacer in and replace shafts etc again or will this not work? If this won't work how do I go from the stock 20in to a 30in?"

"Miles, that sounds like a question for Merc. Personally, I don't know that I would want a second spacer (just due to the potentially extra points of failure). However, can't really think of why it wouldn't work - but not an engineer.

The alternative is a new exhaust housing c/w driveshaft, shift shaft and water tube - could be major bucks to do that...."

Swap your P/H on to an 30" leg.

I can see it all now. With all thread rod's and copper pipe.
