My motor on my boat just brok

My motor on my boat just broke and needs to be rebult or replaced it is a Mercruiser 3.0. I think the rod in cyl 2 broke because the piston only will move up in the cyl and not down. I can also push the piston down with a finger. Also the piston and cyl are scored and the spark plug broke in and out of the cyl. I only have about 85 hours on the motor and it is no longer has a warranty. Does this happen alot to the 3.0? I keep up the maintinance and winterize. I was thinking of upgrading to a v6. Will a v6 fit on my outboard? I have an Alpha 1. Or should I just rebuld my motor a stay with the 4cyl. I also tried looking for a rebuild kit on the internet and have not found one are there any companies that make them or should I just get all the parts from the dealer.
Thanks

I RECOMMEND USING A QUALITY REMANUFACTURED ENGINE WITH A WARRANTY. WHEN YOU DO WHATEVER YOU DECIDE MAKE SURE THE MANIFOLD/RISER IS GOOD. HYDROLOCK WILL SNAP A ROD IN A HEARTBEAT.

" Water Brakes ARE BAD fer yer

" Water Brakes ARE BAD fer yer motor! Don't use them. You will definatly need to tear the motor down to see how much damage the rod has done, but it is probably severe! Maybe a new block, rod, piston, and a warrantied rebuild would be in order. Depending on yer bildge layout, it may be able to install a V-6 but they have side mounts and not just the front mount. Both have the same rear mounts though. Till 2003 that is. "
