Changing a 99 225 long shaft to a short.....

Hi, Looks like I have to pull the pinion and lift out the lower drive shaft to get the roll pin out. Is That the case? THANKS! Ted.

Are you switching your entire motor from 25" to 20" or just a replacement lower unit ??

Just wanna change the lower to a short shaft, I'm aware of the other needed things, just want to know if I can separate the two piece shaft without w/o pulling lower part of shaft? Thanks. Guess in my head line I should have put 99 225 lower to a short shaft......
