changed impellor wont go into gear

need some advice, changed impellor and motor runs good pees good but won't go into gear, made sure it was in neutral to begin with so i know it is something i did on putting back together. thanks for input. marcel

Sounds like another " classic "--------------Often when working on the lower unit it will jump into forward.-----------------So remove the lower unit .-----Then put the control in forward.------Then make sure lower unit is in forward.------Then re-assemble.-------Test shift function before tightening all the fasteners.

Also depending on the year, there is a coupler for the shift shaft that will fall out when you remove the lower.

i got her fixed, no coupler as i have twin trim cylinders, just was'nt wanting to line up with the shift shaft. this would have been easier with another pair of hands. thanks, Marcel
