Changed elbow antifreeze filling overflow

My mechanic changed my elbows on a fresh water cooled for crusader 454 fresh always ran around 160 we change the risers now the port engine is overheating after underload for about 15 minutes. Antifreeze is backing out into the overflow and coming out. The small vent hole I attached. The this has happened more than once. I don’t know if I have a bad brand, new riser have filled the cooling system a few times and the same thing has happened finally realize where it was coming out from the overflow tank Any suggestions would be helpful. The mechanic has already changed the raw water pump and thermostat. I will be showing him the video tomorrow.suggestions would be helpful. Last I spoke to him. He just wanted to boil out the heat exchanger, but he did not know that it was backing up out of the overflow tank again before we change the rises for preventive maintenance, she was running perfect Temperature photo was to large to attach but showed stream of anti freeze coming out small hole on over flow cap

which version of "crusader 454" do you have? a Serial Number would be ideal to identify it.

everything was operating fine before the mechanic changed the risers? do you mean risers or elbows or both?

what brand of cast iron was used? get the right gaskets in the right places?

1997 454 XTI factory parts from Crusader brand I got gaskets from Distributor When picked up elbow, they are top elbows off exhaust manifold no spacer I will try to get serial number . Thank you for your time to answer my question

I could only locate the starboard serial number at this time it is 100187 . The elbow or risers were done as preventative maintenance not sure what to call them. There is no spacer. The engine should be original 1997 when the problem first started after the replacement the mechanic change the water pump impellers and also the thermostat. again bought original equipment from Larry’s Lighthouse Marine. Also swapped out the heat exchanger caps, and the problem still occurred. Again this was done as preventive maintenance and prior to this replacement. I had no problems.

they never made a "454 XTI"...from the pic, it looks more like the 454XL...and if it has a carb, that is your model...

it has the newer center outlet design exhaust...the 'spacer' is the riser. the piece on top of the exhaust manifold is the exhaust elbow.

are you getting any raw water flow out of the exhaust outlets (in the transom)?

As far as we can tell we are getting water flow the opening are half way under water and she only runs hot after a while the elbow themselves are not very hot you can put your hand on top of them I think the heat gub read about 114 degrees one hose going to the inboard exhaust manifold was up around 187 when she got hot and antifreeze was coming out the overflow cap

Got have enough raw water flow to cool it...

Check the strainer lid, hose clamps, and seacock...if. OK, check the raw water flow out of the pump...
