change vro to regular fuel pump 110 hp johnson

I have a 1989 johnson 110 hp it has the original vro and I thought while I was cleaning the carbs I would like to do away with the vro and go to a regular fuel pump. I would like some instructions on how to do it, and if possible a list of parts I would need.

Find a parts list for the 88 HP model of your motor.----Marketed for a number of years.----It uses a regular pump that bolts to the intake manifold.-----Simple to do.

The small fuel pump.... You would need:
1 - 438556 - Pump
2 - 314417 - Screws
1 - 303615 - Gasket.... Plus some fuel hose.

OR...... You could go this route to save a few bucks.

Regardless of what pump situation you choose, to revert back to premix, you'll need to disconnect and plug a thing or two as follows:
********************
(VRO Pump Conversion To Straight Fuel Pump)
(J. Reeves)

You can convert the VRO pump into a straight fuel pump, eliminating the oil tank and VRO pump warning system, but retain the overheat warning setup (and fuel restriction warning if so equipped) by doing the following:

1 - Cut and plug the oil line at the engine so that the oil side of the VRO pump will not draw air into its system. Trace the wires from the back of the VRO to its rubber plug (electrical plug) and disconnect it.

2 - Trace the two wires from the oil tank to the engine, disconnect those two wires, then remove them and the oil tank.

3 - Mix the 50/1 oil in the proper amount with whatever quantity fuel you have. Disconnect the fuel line at the engine. Pump the fuel primer bulb until fuel exits that hose with the tint of whatever oil you used. Reconnect the fuel hose.

That's it. If you want to test the heat warning system to ease your mind, have the key in the on position, then ground out the tan heat sensor wire that you'll find protruding from the cylinder head. The warning horn should sound off.

Pull the pulse limiter and either drill it out or just get a brass nipple so you get a good pulse to the new pump or pumps. You can put two pumps in series if it has to lift the fuel very far.

Only need one pump !----It mounts cleanly over the spot provided on the intake manifold.----Plug the pulse limiter port.

I am continuing with the vro removal have parts ordered. Thanks for the help I'll let you know how it turns out when I get it done.

I have another question now, while I was in the process of removing vro I decided I would clean my carbs and put in new kit. My question is how tight do you torque the screws that hold the float bowl on? They are made of plastic and I don't think they could stand a lot of torque.
