Just wondering if any of you could.enlighten me on this but it's recently got an 86 Evinrude 25 ho and it doesn't have a cdi box or ( power pack) and it still starts and runs fine. It has been upgraded to electric start and the solenoid and the starter are there and they work fine now how is this possible without the cdi box??

It is impossible for that to be. My guess is your motor is an 88-92 model with the UFI ignition. The ignition module is mounted under the flywheel.

If it has the external ignition coils yes the module is under the flywheel. They are problematic if the engine overheats, if you have issues with the ignition CDI has the upgrade for the external module. You can also add a charging system with the flywheel off FYI.

Both ignitions have the external coils. The only difference is the location of the cdi module. Brp also sells the conversion kit.
