i replaced the inlet manifold on the 85 model 5ltr v8 chev,it was corroded through,i used a later version that was EGR equiped,as i couldnt find a original type[auto choke was the external heated spring type]also replaced the carby with a later version with electric choke, now the fun part, hard to start[good fuel flow from pump plungers]float level 5/16 inch, when it does start cuts out ,maybe 4 more attempts and will idle, surges up and down, put hand over top of carby idle evens out, half throttle cuts out,has new pump,[1/2 ltr in 10 seconds fuel flow,8 lb pressure at cranking speed, new lines and filter,i dont think the manifold and carby marry together any thoughts, thanks
