"Now that the top ends of the engines are back in shape, I do have one annoying little problem between port and starboard. Starboard alway JUST starts right up as if it were fuel injected and 16 years newer, even after sitting 10 days or so. The PORT side always needed a few pumps of the throttle but now that the rebuild is there, only about 3/4 of one pump.
Additionally, the starboard runs smoothly at around 725: PORT takes a stall or a quick throttle bump to wake up and then needs to idle around 950 for 30-40 seconds before getting with the other engine.
I have rebuilt 1 carb and it is on the starboard (good) side. It was a kit that was mostly gaskets and a small spring/bb check valve type thing under the spray bar and a new accel pump.
Not a difficult job other than removing the old tiny glued gaskets. The two mixture screws probably play a large roll in this problem as well but I am UNABLE to discover the best method (so Far) of adjusting them beyond stall and recovery.
Am I losing fuel during the week in a flow back situation? I don't think it is that either as I have a fully loaded(fuel) Racor same height as the carb and 3 feet away. from there it goes to the fuel pump and then along the bilge to a bulkhead mounted canister opposite the fuel tank.
I dont THINK the other carb warrants a rebuild but would certainly do it after all of this UNLESS there is some thought lurking out there that I am certainly overlooking."
