1980 85hp Evinrude Fuel randomly spills out of lower Carburator. I have rebuilt it, new needle and seat adjusted float and it is fine for a minute then starts spilling out again. I have had the carburetor off 4 times.Any Ideas here. Thanks in advance

That would mean that the float and float valve are OK.-----That motor has the electric primer on it.------Check all hoses / fitting on the fuel system.

Thank You I will check all the lines. Do you know how to test the electric prime solenoid (valve assembly) to see if it is working correct.

Remove the float needle valve seat, run a little fuel out the fuel line hose, blow out the passageway to the needle valve seat. It's possible that a small particle is in the hose or passageway that is intermitently jamming the float needle valve.

Other causes... Float installed upside down (it happens), and float not adjusted properly.

(Carburetor Float Setting)
(J. Reeves)

With the carburetor body held upside down, the float being viewed from the side, adjust the float so that the free end of the float (the end opposite the hinge pin) is ever so slightly higher (just ever so slightly off level) than the other end. And when viewed from the end, make sure it is not cocked.

Thousands of parts in my remaining stock. Not able to list them all. Let me know what you need and I'll look it up for you. Visit my eBay auction at:
