Carbs leaking

First off my motor is a yamaha 40 2 stroke. The whole top end has just been rebuilt. I took it out the other day and it was acting like it wasn't getting fuel my first thought was bad fuel. Well turned out to be a pin hole in my #1 carv fuel line. When I pulled off my air silencer I noticed a good bit of fuel in it. Well my carbs r now leaking fuel from them. First question is could that hole have prevented fuel from getting to the cylinder resulting in overheating ?? Second is why would there b fuel coming out the carbs if I just had the whole top end rebuilt and carbs adjusted ??
