I have a 1966 mercury 9.8 110 that i recently bought(came with the boat). The engine hasnt ran in 2 years so i cleaned the carb two times already and the will start but the next day i go back to try and start it but she will only start that initial first time with starting fluid. Follow me my question is coming. Today i took it apart again and i noticed that i accidentally put the jet needle in the bowl that lift the float upside down. I maybe ran the engine for half hour with it like that in neutral. I purchased a new needle and float because today when i tried to start her no fuel was going to the bowl. The neddle looked a little damaged on the medal side which was coming in contact with the bowl yesturday. My question is will i be safe with the new needle and float or do i need to replace the whole carb?
