Carbie issues

Hi, I've recently purchased a boat with an older 2stroke 30 hp Johnson I've pulled the carbie off more times than I can remember already to clean the needle and seat but still can't stop the bowl from over filling any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the float sitting cocked possibly binding up? Have you installed a new needle and seat? Never use finger pressure on the float needle to adjust it. Install a new needle and seat and set the float by holding the carb upside down to check the float level. Pull the float out and bend the arm and then check it again with only the weight of the float on the needle. The float should be level with the carb holding it upside down. Lightly surface the flange on the carb with 220 grit paper on a glass table just pull the carb in one direction and slowly snug the carb up nice and snug do not overtighten the carb mounting nuts. Then check and adjust engine sync before you adjust the carb slow needle.

I'm unsure of model and can't seem to find an id tag anywhere. I haven't replaced needle and seat yet but they look brand new. Just seems like a lot of fuel pressure to be getting around the needle and seat.

It is not fuel pressure hook your fuel tank directly to the carb and hold it upside down and pump on the primer if fuel leaks past the needle it needs replaced. You ned to ID the motor in order to purchase the correct carb kit or at the very least new needle and seat.

????--------But it shows right on this site that the same carburetor kit is used from 1980 to 2005 models.----Should not need to ID the motor at all.

Take the float off of the carb and see if it floats. If it does reassemble and flip the carb upside down and make sure the float sits level to the carb.

So I've stripped it apart again the float doesn't leak and it's level when tipped upside down. The needle and seat seal great but I seem to be getting fuel straight up the main jet any ideas.
