I have a 1991 mercury 90 Hp 3 cylinder,I think the choke is stuck, but not for sure, running very rough, have to throttle it way up for it to start,And put it in gear quickly or it floods out, when its running and I push the choke in it does not do anything but make a click sound, doesn't idle down or up.I looked at the front of the carbs and all three butterfly flaps are closed,I looked over the carbs and I don't see anything that looks like a choke sileniod ,I even looked in my seloc manual and can't find how the choke works.anyone that could help me with this would be much appreciated, thanks for any help in advance.

Doesn't really have a "choke"; it's an enriching device. Look for the rod that is moved upward when you hit the "choke". It should drop right back when you let off. If not, fix that.

i thank you for the imformation,I found the enriching device but when I hit the choke nothing{rod} is moving just a clicking sound, were is the rod located. Thanks again.

is it possible to disconnect it and run it without enriching devise.without hurting the motor.till I can find the part and scrap up the cash for it.

An easy way to check it is to remove the small line at the carb that comes from the enrichner. Route it to some sort of container. Turn the key on and no fuel should come out. Push the key in and fuel should squirt out then stop when you let the key back out. Yes you can run without it but it may be hard to start the motor. I suspect you have trash in the carbs and they need to be rebuilt.

I do have a selco manual ,couldn't find any info on it.I took the line off and gas is coming out after the choke is let off.So it must be bad.Thank you everyone for all the help ,Very appreciated.Gotta love the site.
