"I purchased a Mac 26 with a 9.9 4 stroke Yamaha engine. After cleaning the carb, we got it to run. After use, I run the carb dry and then drain the float boal. The next time I go to use the engine, it won't start or will not run smoothly and I end up taking it apart and using carb cleaner to clean it all up. It will work great until I put the boat up for a month or so then the same thing again. I us Stabil in the tank with out any good results. This proceedure is getting old. It has been like this for years and has caused me to be stuck on a lake in a storm because I could not get it to start to get to shore. Please, someone help.
Thanks"

"I know the advice here is to drain the carbs after every use. I've had 12 of these 9.9 Yami's (high thrust) and have never had a carb problem and I never drain the carb. In fact the 9.9 on my charter boat has gas in it right now. I use stabil during the winter slow period. I fire both engines up every 2 weeks to keep the engines lubed internally. I strongly believe that if you have clean fuel (good filters) and move it thru every 2 weeks that a full carb will result in less varnish than one where there may be some residule fuel left to evaporate. You've had no success your way, might be worth a try."
