Carb help needed

have a 69' 40 hp. evinrud

have a 69' 40 hp. evinrude that has 2 threaded holes on the outer exhaust cover top is for the choke i dont know what the bottom one is for i can not find it in the manual... any suggestions?

"Skamz.... It all begins with aire being drawn into the intake manifold area via the choke mechanism. The bottom hole in the exhaust manifold is simply a air intake. Air flows into that hole, through a manifold of sorts that heats the air, which then flows to the hot air actuated choke assembly that is located on the starboard side of the carburetor.

I have a 1996 25hp evinrude t

I have a 1996 25hp evinrude that after warmed up runs rough. I unplugged the heat sensor and it ran better but just a littel sluggest. Thermostrate operates correctly and the pee hole water is not overheated. Appears the water pump is working fine. Head is hot to the touch could be because it is running rough.

Any thoughts??
