I replaced the carb 3x's o

I replaced the carb 3x's on my starboard 470 merc. The first 2 carbs were rebuilts. I thought I got bad rebuilts so I got a new one. Same problem!
Starts fine floods at idle. I switched the new carb over to the port engine and it works fine. Here is the kicker. The carb from the port engine that I had no problem with now floods on the starboard engine!! I'm I missing something?

thank you Guy for responding.t

thank you Guy for responding.the fuel pump was replaced also can it be the wrong one. how or can you adjust the pressure. Original post was carb floods 6/11/09 @ 3:40 pm

"There isn't any pressure

"There isn't any pressure regulator on a mech. fuel pump that I am aware; may be wrong. If I remember right a mech. pump for a carb only needs 3-4 PSI. More than that will cause flooding. This is your replacement pump: MERC. PN: 86234A05

Fuel Pump Fuel pump mounted with filter bowl facing up Fits MCM 120/2.5L, 140/3.0L, 470/485/488 & 160/165/200 (I/L 6 cyl.)

If you have the right pump then check your float setting."

"sounds like a strong vacume pull on the starboard intake seeing how they both work fine on the port motor. do they run off of the same tank? if not try a portable tank to see if it helps

Measure the vacuum on both eng

Measure the vacuum on both engines and compare them. You may have to install a vacuum nipple on the intake behind the carb base; remove plug.

1984 488 mercruiser carburetor

1984 488 mercruiser carburetor floods out secondary barrels when turned over. This floods engine. I think it could be the carb float being stuck. Is this easy to fix/ Do I need a rebuild kit to replace gaskets before I begin?
