Carb Adjustment

Can anyone tell me where to start with the adjustment screws on the front of my quadrajet carb on a 1987 454 c.i., 350 h.p. I think somewhere I heard to start at 1 and 1/2 turns out from the seated position. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

my 1991 454 shop manual has 2 full turns.

Thanks, I will try that unless anyone with 1987 models says to do something different.

Ps take a look at this thread "vacuum readings - carb adjustment". Mark replied to me with several details that are many times overlooked or left out of explaining optimal adjustments. Even if are don't have a vacuum tool, you will find it.

anywhere between 2 & 4 turns open, from fully closed, should be okay to get it running.
