What are the thoughts on repow

What are the thoughts on repowering with captains choice 5.7 instead of carbureted 454 Crusaders.. fuel consumption will be better will performance be that different?
Any thoughts are welcome..

Really depends on the boat. The 454's are much more powerful than the 5.7. The boat may very well need the torque provided by the big block. I went through the same process some months ago and ended up with the 8.1's

"Brian, If your boat is 30' + you will burn more fuel and have a lot less power. MultiPort Fuel Inj. will be more economical to run with a 454. Have fun.
