Good afternoon,
I have a 1989 Four Winns Liberator 211. 460 Big block Ford with OMC King Cobra outdrive. The boat has captains call through hall exhaust single engine cascade actuation type. The port side solenoid actuated "flapper door" inside the exhaust tube seems to be locked up. The starboard side is "free" and linkage can be moved by hand. No loose wires, or blown fuses are easliy viewed. It was working fine then just stopped working. Anybody run into this issue in the past? All help is greatly appreciated.

Could be some Carbon Buildup in side, something stuck in there, have you tried disconnecting and manually operating it?

I have not treid anything except moving it with my hand as I have no expereince with this system, so I thought I would ask some more knowledgeable people for a place to start. I will dosconnect linkage from solenoid, this will tell me if it's something in the exhaust tube, or if it is more elecro-mechanical with the solenoid system? Does this sound like good starting point?

I agree, sorry i dont have experience with them directly, though I know basic operation. using the search engines, and searching for "captains call exhaust solenoid" showed some results that gave clues as to how to diagnose. But it could be either a mechanical problem or problem with the Solenoid peice that can not be repaired and only replaced. - Good Luck.
