Can't trim down Mercury 75

Hi,
I was out boating yesterday, and when I should trim down the motor, it didn't come down. I thought that I had tilted it up too much somehow, but as I tilted it up at first and then down it worked again. When I was at sea everything worked perfectly, both tilt and trim. When I came ashore I tilted the motor up again and when I came home and tied to tilt it down it was stuck. It was tilted fully up because I didn't remember that it stucked earlier. It didn't come down whatever I tried to to. I even had my wife pressing it down when I was pressing the button, but it didn't work. The tilt and trim motor is running, and from the sound of it I think it runs both ways. There is no tilt lock lever on this model and I am pretty shore that it's the cylinder that won't come down. There i no manual release valve on this model either, there is only some kind of bolt head in the place, and it is very difficult to reach as the hole from the side is too small for any tool. Is there any other place I can open to get the pressure out of the cylinder? I have to get it down because next week the temperature is going under 0°C and I have to fix the spring service before that.
Thanks, Gustu

Open the manual release valve --------It has one !!-----------------Grind down a socket to fit , or open the hole a wee bit.

Hi again,

I did grind down the socket and I opened up the hole a bit so I could open the bolt, but it didn't release the pressure from the cyllinder. So I looked into the hole where I thought that the valve should be but there was no valve. It looked like someone (preowner) had tried to get it out sometime earlier and broke it. There was nothing I could grab with a tool. And it didn't let out any hydraulic oil from there. I left it like it was and screwed the bolt back in place. I then opened another smaller bolt near the pump motor and then the pressure was released and the motor came down. I opened the bolt a little too much so it came all the way out and let all the hydraulic oil out on the laundry but it didn't matter. I fillled it up with new automatic transmission fluid and then it worked again. I haven't tried to lift it all the way up yet and so far it works well both ways.
Thank You anyway for the tip, it gave me a lot of self-confidence to go on working on the motor, and it came out very well. Now I can serve the motor for the winter and I know it will work well next autumn again.
Wintergreetings, Gustu
