Hey guys, im new to this forum.wanted to say hi before i start, happy to be here. Now with that said, i recently purchased a used boat with an Evinrude 33hp sky twin. It started good when i purchased the boat, but from that day to now something happened and now wont start. It has electric start on it. When i turn key nothing happens, except for electric choke that opens. I changed the ignition switch for a sea dog line (420381-1). Changed starter solenoid for a generic brand solenoid. Checked all wires and everything seems good wire and connection wise. The engine turns and starts when i send power directly to starter, so i know engine is good. I believe my problem is in ignition/starter system. My engine is an outboard 33hp evinrude model#33052m and serial #c83284. The starter is a presto lite mgd4102 c 12v c2. The wires from motor has 5 wires. 1 red(battery) 2 blacks (magneto) 1 purple (choke) and 1 white (starter solenoid). The ignition switch had 6 position, boat store told me to not use ignition port as my old ignition switch only had 5 positions. Any help is greatly appreciated. Battery is a dc-27 .thanks.

Look for and find the SAFETY switch on the engine.---------------One white wire goes to it.------------If throttle is advanced too far this switch prevents cranking.

Just another quick question. The motor has electric start, is it possible to have pull start aswell? In case battery dies

the lever with the large screw is the lock just remove the lever and it will pull start. The safety is there so you dont yank on the rope at full throttle and get flung off the back of the boat.

Ya knew about that, the cord comes out when i pull just doesnt turn flywheel. I thought if u had electric start u had to diaconnect pull start

Not at all.-------------The pull start is ready to use at any time with electric start.----------No generater to keep battery topped up.----------That is why the recoil is ready to use.

Cool thanks. Now i just gotta figure out why is it not turn flywheen when i pill on cord. Ill try and goolgle parts diagram and pull start to see whats missing or broken
