Cant Pull Motor Over With Plugs In

Hi All,

I hope someone can help me.
I took my motor to a mechanic as I was having rev's and flooding problems. After he tinkered with it he told me that he couldn't find the cause and that likely it was the top or bottom seal. I replaced the bottom seal and when I tried to pull the motor over i couldn't as there is too much resistance or felt like too much compression...but as soon as I i take the plugs out it pulls over smoothly?
The coil and spark plug leads are old and damaged but they were working before I took it to the mechanic.
I didn't try to start it after getting it back from the mechanic but a mate said he did try and that he almost pulled the motor off the boat because of the resistance.
Can anyone help please......

I have checked to make certain that I have the correct plugs, and checked them a second time just to be doubly certain...

I tried pulling the damn thing as hard as I could....and no matter how hard I did the motor/flywheel wouldn't spin fast enough or smoothly to ever actually start
