cant get 90 horse force to shift

I pulled the wrong screw out of the bottom end to drain gear oil. Got it back in and wasn't easy but, now cant get it to go and stay in gear any suggestions Please. It was working fine before this happened. Tried adjusting linkage to no help.

You pulled out the pivot pin for the shifter.-----------You got it back in but not into the correct hole.-------Drain the oil.--------Remove that pin.---------Use a strong flashlight to see if you can line up the hole.----------Install pin.---------Test shift function.----------Refill with oil you drained out.

Thank you. Does it help to tilt motor up or down or unhook the rod where it's connected to the linkage an move it up and down. I don't want more problems

Removing the entire lower unit and laying it on a bench may help.

I have taken the lower unit off of my motor. Would taking the prop and all out
be the next option. because I still cannot get the pivot screw back in right.
please help.
