I have a 1979 80 HP Mercury an

I have a 1979 80 HP Mercury and am very new to boating. I can't get past 3000 RPM and then the boat will stall and the bulb on the fuel line is soft. If someone keeps pumping the bulb the motor will run fine. This happened at the end of the day yesterday and we were in a hurry to get off the lake so I did not have time to try any sollutions. Is it as simple as a fitting on the external fuel line loose and sucking air?

Get a fuel pump kit from Merc.

But yes, check the lines for any sign of wear, breaks, cracks etc."
