First timer here..hope you can

First timer here..hope you can help me out. I have a 1998 200 Ocean Runner pushing my 23 ft. Sea Era walkaround. It moves pretty good at about 37 mph according to GPS. At WOT I am only getting 4250 rpm's which some have suggested means that I am over-propped.

There is nothing stamped on the prop other than "B107" to give an indication of its spec's. Any clue as to what B107 means. What are your thoughts on an appropriate prop for this boat weighing in at 3700lbs? I would like to get the rpm's up of course.

Part of me thinks that this is a pretty good speed for this boat and the tach could be wrong. How does one diagnose a faulty tach? Any help appreciated.

"Richard there should be some

"Richard there should be some code numbers with a "17P" or some other code which is the pitch of the prop. Michigan wheel stamps them into the brass hub, whereas Mercury stamps them into the side of the prop hub.

BTW - I do suspect your Tach is incorrect. A boat like yours should have a greater difference between the tach andd speedo. i therefore think your tach reads a bit low."

"Richard, I would agree with C

"Richard, I would agree with Chris. Your speed looks to be right where it should be, with that set-up and would suspect that you probably have either a 15 or 17 pitch currently, which would be right for the weight, depending on normal passenger load...."

"Gentlmen, thank you for the i

"Gentlmen, thank you for the input; I did not mean to take so long to get back to you but with the boys' fall sports schedule, my weekends on the water have been nil. I winterized the boat this weekend, once off the lift and on the trailer, I found that the prop is a 14.5x19. Does this change your suspicions that the tach may be wrong.

If so, I wouldn't mind hearing what prop my be correct for my boat and use. Again I would like the rpm's up into the normal range (of course) and possibly a little more top end."
