I live in Manifoba. As of now I just need the kill button and shift lever.There is an epoxy sealing the engine halfs so maybe a gasket set later. But was looking for a place for future parts if needed. Ser no 1570945
 
If you have this motor apart you should install new ball bearings on the crankshaft.-----New seals too.----There is no gasket between the crankcase halves.----It is a metal to metal precision joint.-----Have some parts here.----Need the part #

Are you anywhere near Winnipeg ?-----Must be a Mercury dealer there to get you some common parts.------NAPA auto parts may also help you with after market.---

Yes I live in Winnipeg. So far the 2 dealers I spoke with wont deal with any parts over 40yr old. I will try NAPA thanx.
 
Ran into a similar issue. Dealers or part suppliers for Mercury or BRP are not allowed to ship parts from the US to Canada. It’s to protect Canadian dealers/part suppliers. Japanese made engines does not apply since the county of manufacture is Japan. I’ve been looking for an online source of Canadian parts supplier similar to boats.net-nothing found. Best you can do is bring in your model number, year and serial number to a Mercury dealer and go from there. Mercury’s website has a extensive parts catalog, if the parts are listed as available then any Canadian Mercury dealer can order them from Fond du Lac so I’ve been told.
 
Some dealers will not make the effort for a small $$ part , or simply do not know what fits what.-----Friend called a dealer for an impeller for a 79 inline 6 " tower of power " and was told.-----We do not stock parts for motors that old.-----I said you must be kidding .----That impeller was used on many outboards and sterndrives from 1964 to the late 1980's.----Every dealer would have 6 in stock in spring time.----That place closed up because most boat owners knew more than they did !
 
Just bought an impeller and fuel pump diaphragm for my '75 850 - (having the part Nr. helps) and soon I'll be getting a shift, throttle cable and PT hose; a new dealer is too busy selling new boats and motors to worry about the older ones.

A parts counter , inventory , parts person cost huge money called " overhead ".-----Some dealers have elected to ignore people ready to spend $50.00.----Concentrate on that $50,000 deal.

I’ve dealt numerous times getting car parts from dealers who won’t ship across the border. I have them shipped to a UPS store just across the border, then drive down and pick them up.
The border is now open, it’s not much of a drive to Pembina - see if they have a UPS or FedEx store.
i’ve also had boat parts shipped to hotels in the US that my employer uses. I phoned the order in and just had it marked, “hold for XXXX”, to be picked up by another person, who would be at that hotel.
i’ve also found that international shipping is just calculated at a set price. For small items, if you phone them, they’ll often just throw it in an envelope for far cheaper shipping.
