Can you help me identify this old Evinrude Year/Model?

I inherited this Evinrude Outboard from my father (please see attached images). It was my Grandfather's Outboard. The top is stamped Evinrude Motors, Made in Milwaukee, WI. It has twin spark plugs. I found an Evinrude metal tag with the following metal stamp: 1N010. This number doesn't jive with any model numbers I can find on various websites. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

I'm gonna guess that is a serial number, not a model number. Have a look at the top of the flywheel, where the rope would go on to pull start it. See if there is a model number stamped on there.

I found an Evinrude metal tag with the following metal stamp: 1N010.

My OMC Guide Book goes clear back to 1915 and that number isn't included.

On those old models, it was a Evinrude and Johnson trait to have the model etc numbers imprinted right into the aluminum engine itself.

Look closely on the port (left) side of the engine, right where the powerhead is attached to the long exhaust housing. It is in this area that the numbers were imprinted... rather large imprint as I remember it. List those numbers/Letters here if you find them.

Hi Joe...I found the following right where you told me to look.

It is either

Elto IE. 8
or
Elto IL. 8

The engine has TWO Champion C-4 Plugs...one on each side of the engine. Does this help?

Per Joe's advice I found the following imprint where the "powerhead meets the long exhaust housing"

It is either Elto IE. 8 or Elto IL. 8

The engine has TWO Champion C-4 Plugs...one on each side of the engine.

Thanks All.

That should help me but unfortunately that is an engine that was manufactured solely by Olie Evinrude before OMC was formed via the merging of Mr Evinrude and Mr Johnson... at least that my belief. And as such, the Elto number is not in my OMC guide book.

However, go to this site... I feel sure that your answer lies somewhere waiting for you.

Maybe not it says it is a 1 cylinder but it still has the folding shaft it looks like maybe that will help ID the motor possible bastard? Thats one narly prop on there.

All...thank you for your help. Yes...the Tiller Handle folds. Would anyone venture to guess the value of this motor "as is" and/or the value restored and running. I'm by no means an outboard motor mechanic...far from it! But I'm thinking this winter I may try and restore this motor in honor of my grandfather...I'm sure this motor was his pride and joy at his cottage in Whitewater Wisconsin.

For those interested someone on another forum has told me I own an 1929 Evinrude Model N Folding Sportwin 2.5 HP. From what I can tell looking at a 1929 Evinrude advertisement it appears that the gentleman is correct.
