coming back on one motor 1982

coming back on one motor 1982 33ft carver twin 440b 1975 motors one down one running good trans are new all oils look good > has not ran in about a year till this weekend i'm going to run this boat for a few hours at the dock and maybe near the marina on one motor what do you all thing.

Where this is a new boat to you, consider that there are going to be a lot of other things for you to keep an eye on and figure out……in addition to trying to operate a big boat w/one motor. If you encounter any circumstance other than “smooth sailing”, you’ve got the single-motor and unfamiliarity strikes against you.

If you know the lake very well and can get a capable boat to accompany you…..it’s a more controlled risk. If you don’t have a lot of experience on the lake, and plan to fly solo…..it’s pretty sketchy.

Also, I wouldn’t put a great deal of stock in the fact that you’ve had the “good” motor fired and running at a dock. That motor’s going to be under so serious load once you’re underway…….very different operating conditions."

"i do know your telling lol i just think it mite make it ,i will have someone with me that know twin motor boat real well ,and sea tow in my phone lol but do you think it could be done i sure hope so cause there is only one plac ethe truck driver can put my boat it at and that is about 20 miles up river .i mean i will be a the boat all weekend so if i should do anything to it i need to this weekend cause i'll have tools with me"

Just a few things to consider..
If the good motor fails and you are drifting, How good are at deploying your anchor to stay off the rocky shore ?
Did you check the anchor rope ?
Will you have cell reception in the lake to call for help ?
Have the help on stand by
Have someone with you,
Go prepared, Water, Fire extinguisher , ect ect
Checked your lights ?
Ect ect ect
