can I switch carburators

can I switch carbs from a 1979 115hp evinrude to a 1975 85hp johnson, and will it give me more power?? and do you know how many years are changable. thank you.

It's not that simple. If you really want to know compare parts lists. Keep in mind that if you put more in you have to be able to get more out. So things like exhaust, reeds, power packs, etc can come into play.

If they would interchange you probably wouldn't notice any power increase, to many other things would have to be modified to improve power.
