I have a mariner outboard I can't find the year or model this is the only tag I can find says Mariner 9.9m 682c S 058438 Made in japan

Your Model Number is 7010205 which = 1985 too,

9.9C M (S = Short Shaft)

Equivalent to a 1986 Yamaha 9.9XXX. If you can't find parts under the Mariner brand you might be able to find them under the Yamaha brand.
