Can a tach/hour meter be installed on pull-start motors?

Please advise. I have them on my electric start lawn mower and generator, good way to keep track of maintenance milestones
 
You sure can... get one of the mini tachs, one wire to the plug wire, one wire to ground. it gives you the rpm, as well as total hours run.
