bypass port

I just bought a 1975 Johnson 25, thing is I opened the hood and noticed that the bypass port has been crimped off, I'm new to outboards and trying to feel my way around I'm sure this does not need to be blocked off, could someone maybe tell me what it should be connected to and what it does,,,,thanks for any help,

There should be a nipple on the intake manifold where it connects,in your pic that should be a nipple and the two are connected with a rubber hose

There is a hose connected to the manifold and running out and under the motor. see pics, is this the one?

looks like where your tail tail hose goes to show you your water pressure is good and water pump is functioning
