Buzzing sound from control box

Hello I'm new to the forums and new to boating.

Last fall we picked up a 1983 Glastron SSV-151 with an 81 Evanrude 90Hp outboard. We have only had it out twice this spring. 1st time it ran like a champ. The second trip this evening I forgot to put the transom plugs in when launching and took on some water before I relized my mistake. No biggie I thought so plugged those up and used the bilge to drain the water. All was good. Took the kids out tubing and was having some fun. We parked at a nice cover and did some fishing.

Upon keying up the boat the control module (throttle box controls) a constant buzzer started sounding. We were about a mile from the boat launch and no other boats on the lake so we motored over to the boat launch and loaded the boat and headed home.

Now I'm trying to figure out what is causing this buzzing sound. The gas oil was mixed 50:1 in the tanks. There was a steady stream of water coming out of the outboard while it was running and she ran fine back to the boat launch; and the whole time before the buzzing started.

I'm wondering if I might have shorted something out when I left the transom plugs out when I launched it?

Or is this an over heating problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated........1st boat owner and only 2nd time on the water.
