"Hi, I just bought a 1987 Skeeter starfire 180 with a merc. 175 Black Max. I have a buzzer going off at about 60mph. I back it off to about 45 and the buzzer goes off. The Temp gauge also slides to the hot section and back down. I just put in a new Impeller and housing. I also blew aire in all the water lines to check for blockage and the were clear. Took out both stats and again no blockage. Any one have any other sugestions? Also the small water spout hole sputters watter at an idle sometimes and sometimes it has a steady streme?}"

"Sebastian, is it possible tha

"Sebastian, is it possible that the motor is too high on transom or trimmed up too high when running at 60mph?"

"Dale, thanks for your respons

"Dale, thanks for your response, how can I tell if the transom is too high? Do you also think it could be the 5 blade prop I just put on it could cause it to heat up? Is it also normal for this type engine to be intermitent on the tall tale spout."

"When your motor is at 90 degr

"When your motor is at 90 degrees to your boat,( straight up and down) the cavitation plate should be about even with your keel, or place a long straight edge on the bottom side of your boat extending out of the rear, using the edge as a reference measure from the bottom of the boat to the center where your prop shaft is, it should be around 4 1/2". You can adjust up or down a little for speed and fuel economy, but you dont want your water inlets to be out of the water, that may be the problem. When you run faster, the boat lifts up out of the water, so does the engine. I believe the pee stream should remain constant. Just a guess. good Luck"

"Dale C.I willcheck that thank

"Dale C.I willcheck that thanks. Bandit, I Took the poppit valve off and checked for corrosion and other junk, looked at the plastic piece and it was clean. Aside from that I dont know what to look for? Is it possible that due to the wheep hole pulsating and nt being constent even with the muffs on that there could be a piece of the pump before last could be caught up on the pick up tube between the motor and the tube?"

"One more question, is the wat

"One more question, is the water temp buzzer Intermittent and the low oil a constent or the other way around?"

"No, I checked the Diaphram fo

"No, I checked the Diaphram for cracks and all looked good. So the oil warning buzzer is Intermittent, if thats the case it sounds like have a leak in the lines. I looked at the resavore and its full. Man sounds like I have two issues. Bandit, thanks for you input. I'll tell you what, I took the boat out and caught 13 3 lb. plus bass so I am not giving up."
