Buccaneer 12hp

Recently acquired a 1955 12hp buccaneer. We had this motor on a flat bottom boat in the early sixties. We moved and my dad sold the boat. Some reason that motor always stuck out to me. This motor was listed on marketplace back earlier last year. The seller had no idea what condition it was in and I was only interested because of the sentimental value but didn't buy it. Fast-forward to last month they still had the motor. We made a deal and I'm pretty sure it is my dad's motor. It belonged to her dad who has passed so no help on getting any information from him but his house was only a few miles from where we lived and we were the only ones that had a buccaneer. So I rebuilt the lower unit, cleaned the carb, checked the spark. It was dead on top cylinder, turned out to be bad wire. Trimmed it back and it sparks. Checked the compression only 65lbs. Oiled the cylinders, fresh gas.It runs. Rebuild kit for carb on the way. No dents so I'm going to put it back to original. Running it on the intregall tank but it has fitting for external tank. Doesn't show that option available until 2 years later. Am I wrong?
