"A reputable machine shop can heli arc (alumium weld) the broken part back on. You would need to have thebroken piece, starter, starter bolts, and flywheel so that they can align everything properly..... starter bendix gear alignment with the flywheel teeth, etc."

Thanks Joe here's my next

Thanks Joe here's my next question this is a 1973 135hp evinrude i thought it was a 140hp i think i found a flywheel to replace the one i have it looks like the one i have but is says its a 1982 for a 140hp will it work.

"The original 1973 135hp flywh

"The original 1973 135hp flywheel part number is 581045.

The original 1982 140hp flywheel part number is 581850.

However, both part numbers supersede up to the same part number of 582628.

This being the case, I would say that they are interchangeable."

OK Joe here's the part no

OK Joe here's the part no. that's on the fly wheel that came off the motor 581044. Joe are these motors always so hard to start. It seems like its part of the reason that the fly wheel takes such a beaten from the drive are is it my inexperience.

"Start procedure..... Prime fu

"Start procedure..... Prime fuel primer bulb up hard, apply a slight bit of throttle, turn key to start position and engage choke (or primer solenoid). Engine should start and be running within six (6) revolutions.

Hard starting engine = Fouled Carburetors, Weak Erratic Ignition, Poor Compression, something of that nature.

581044 is apparently a casting number, not a part number. Not in the book."
