broken fast idle lever

i have a 1986 ranger 330v with a 1986 johnson 120 hp ob. does anybody know how to replace the fast idle lever on the control box? any help will be appreciated! the new lever is on the way, not too hard to find!

I've taken the box apart, there's a nut holding it in that just spins. I need to know how to get this nut off to put the new lever on
