Can I replace a BravoI with a 1:50 gear ratio with one with a 1:65 gear ratio and would I have to change the prop also.

Yes, otherwise you will overev engine at wide open throttle, if your engine is running at suggested RPM at WOT right now. This happens because the ratio has been reduced from 1.5 to 1.65 ( I know, that sounds backwards, but it's not), reducing the load on the engine. Like going from 3.73 gears to 4.10's on a tow vehicle. Higher RPM at a given speed, if tires remain the same, but pulls much easier.
