Bravo 3 seawater strainer

Hi guys, a few weeks ago I picked up a lastic bag and ruined my impeller. A few pieces were in the housing itself but a couple made it to the heat exchanger. If I put a sherwood full flow sea strainer in the EXIT side of the housing (in-line) to catch any future debri would I do any harm??

No harm and it will not help either.

Chris, thanks for the response but why wouldn't it catch any broken pieces of the impeller?

What is the difference if the pieces make it to the exchanger? The engine will run hot either way. Just pull the end caps off and pull the pieces out.
