"I had to drill a vent cap out on an Alpha a few years back, as the screwdriver slot was badly butchered. Chased the threads with a 3/8 x 16 tap, then installed a new vent screw.
Did it with the top cover off so as to catch all the metal bits in a big wad of cotton soaked with WD-40.

Richard;
Start with a small bit and work your way up. Try a 3/32" or 1/8" to start. Titanium coated bits work well. Once you get the first hole thru you are good. The screw slot will tend to bind the first bit or two and cause breakage. Go slow.

If you have a dremel and a round head stone maybe try to grind a depression in the center of the slot area so as to remove the slot faces.

Try going to a tool store &amp

Try going to a tool store & buying a few good left handed drill bits. Just a couple of different sizes. I have about 5-6 in my tool box. Anytime you are drilling a stud or broken bolt or in your case a plug 9 out of 10 times it will come out with a drill bit. Good Luck

Being SSteel does

"Ayuh,...

Being SSteel doesn't help,...
It's kinda Soft to start, but it takes about nothing to Work Harden the cutting area of the hole,+ you'll dull most any drill bit...
Cobalt, or solid Carbide are good bits, but pricey....
The Carbide is alittle brittle though..

Got any Heat you can put into it,..??

1/8" is a good place to start,... 3/16" is 1/2 the available Hole..."

"I used a flat blade pry bar,ground the end to fit the screw. The added width of the blade and the extra leverage of the long handle broke mine free"

"To all that gave advice, Thank you.I got them out. I used a dremil disc cutting blade and made the slots wider and deeper,heated it up and with a brake adjustment tool that had a 90 degree angle on it was able to get enough leverage to loosen them both.Just thought I}} would share that with all of you and THANKS
