Brand new out of box 9.9 will not pee. What's wrong?

I have just started my brand new 9.9 motor, and it starts, but it does not pee using my rabbit ears for water. Is there something wrong?

Test in a bucket with water 6" above the impeller.----Or test on the boat in the lake.----Or take it to the shop where you spent your money.

I agree with starting it in a test tank (modified trash can) with water at least 3" above the ventilation plate. This will give you an accurate idea of how the system is pumping.

I don't care for muffs because they require a very accurate fit and hose water pressure has to be adequate for them to work.

Just my opinion.

My new 20 wouldn't work on rabbit ears...fine in trash can.
