"Originally the 71c trans used Dexron trans fluid
but the last owner wrote "use 30wt eng oil in trans" in the owners manual.Any suggestions or ideas? I'm bringing it back to life after 5 years of neglect,along with the Nissan/chrysler sd-22."

Borg Warner also recomends the use of SAE 30 or 40 weight oil. In hotter climates the 40 will offers better protection.
